Brewer Science Supports Call for More Innovation and Competition in Semiconductor Industry

New Report by President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology Reinforces Need for Greater Competition with China

January 17, 2017 – Rolla, MO – Brewer Science is supporting the findings in a new report outlining long-term solutions for continued U.S. leadership in the global semiconductor industry. Brewer Science, a national and global leader in the semiconductor industry, said the report provides guidance and clarity for the U.S. in the semiconductor industry.

The President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology issued a report entitled, “Ensuring Long-Term U.S. Leadership in Semiconductors.” The report finds that China is wanting to shape the industry for its needs and U.S. companies, like Brewer Science, must play a role in out innovating the world in this growing industry.

“This report reaffirms what we have been saying for years, that growing a vibrant semiconductor industry in the United States requires bold leadership and innovation,” said Dr. Terry Brewer, founder and CEO of Brewer Science. “It also sounds an alarm to policymakers that the existing market forces are currently not enough to create the conditions necessary for U.S. companies to yield desired outcomes. It will require a different mix of private sector development and public sector policies to ensure that the semiconductor industry continues to grow, innovate and outcompete those who want to replace the U.S. as the global leader in advanced manufacturing.”

Brewer Science is encouraging industry leaders and policymakers to examine the report and take action to help increase U.S. competitiveness in the semiconductor industry.

Brewer Science is a global leader in creating innovative technology in the semiconductor industry. Semiconductors are a vital industry playing a role in developing new technology leveraged in everything from consumer smartphones to government defense systems for the U.S. government.
